What causes sensitive skin?

There are many reasons why people have sensitive skin.  Allergens, extreme temperature change or chemicals are just a few factors that can impair the skin's natural protection barrier.

For those with perticularly dry skin, there is no single cause. It is mainly caused by the environment stripping away fatty and essential oils from the skin leaving it unprotected.

The causes of dry skin can be classified as either external and internal. External factors are the most common underlying cause and are the easiest to address. External factors include cold temperatures and low humidity, especially during the winter when central heating is used. Internal factors include overall health, age, genetics, family history, and a personal history of other medical conditions.
